February: Week Three
Artist of the week:
Brian Ferry // A recent London transplant via NYC, lawyer-by-day Ferry pulls us into his eye by capturing the ginger details and often perfect natural light of the places he visits in around his own stompings and on his travels. The subtle warmth found here is rare and quite embracing. View Ferry’s work here and here.
Musician of the week:
Frank Fairfield // “S/T”
I heard of this old pole cat a few years ago via his (now defunct) podcast “Pathways of the Gramophone” (which, for the life of me I can’t track down) and he has recently coalesced a collection of songs on his first official release. Fairfield’s eponymous album sounds like it is straight off of a wax cylinder culled from the depression era. Highly jolting and lurid textures creased in tradition and folded into the silt of the American delta. Listen here and here.
